Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking – Trip Overview
Annapurna Sunrise Trek, also known as Poon Hill Trek, is a relatively easy walk through the village and the rhododendron forest. This brisk walk shows some of the best views of Annapurna and the nearby Himalayas, especially from Poon Hill. The increase in rice terraces has made Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking a paradise for photographers. Hiking begins with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kathmandu. It is also famous for spectacular view of sunrise so this trekking also known as Poon Hill Sunrise Trek. Then we take a flight to Pokhara and the real trek start in Najapur. Then we will walk to the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk to enjoy the national hospitality and culture of the Gurung Museum. Walking through the rhododendrons of red flowers that bloom in spring, descending to Birethanti, going through the waterfalls and some small towns and settlements will be an exciting experience. We went to Naya Pul and went to Pokhara, marking the end of this wonderful Annapurna Poon Hill Trek.
This 9 day Trek itinerary is designed for hikers who need less demanding but short and beautiful hikes, especially with their families and children on the slopes of the countryside with a close view of the Himalayas. However, if you are anxious to travel long distances in the Annapurna area and also get to your base camp, Annapurna Sanctuary trek – 14 days will be the best option. For hikers who prefer to travel more rigorously throughout the Annapurna circuit, the Annapurna Circle Trek – 22 days will be perfect in about two weeks. Is this trip moderate for me?
This is a moderate trek suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 5-7 hours a day with a light day pack, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness and have a positive attitude, self-confidence, and strong determination, we can accomplish this trek successfully and there is not any technical requirement for this trek. If you start to exercise and morning walk regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be better but not mandatory. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases to consult their doctor before taking the trip and inform Mountain Expedition Nepal before booking this trip.
Best Time to Travel
Autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) are the best time for hiking in the Annapurna region. The weather is fine, warm and beautiful. If you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy your time alone with nature, this winter trip (December, January, and February) is also an option. However, for most guests, the temperature in winter can be hard. Hiking during the summer or monsoon season (June to August) will be affected by rain, but summer hiking can be a blessing for interested botanists.

Our team of 15 people from USA marked a truly memorable trip to Nepal in March 2019. We would like to say a big thank you to Bhim and his team of very capable, experienced and caring with skillfully, who made this trip enjoyable and safe for us to conquer. Raju, the assistant guide was very knowledgeable about the trail, well known with local people that helps us being family and we shared some funny moments with him as he was a humorous member entire team. The other assistant guide, Deepak was ever smiling and cheerful and made the journey pleasant and sweet each second.
