16 Days Bhutan Mongar & Trashigang Tour Overview
Mongar (1,700 m) is the seat of the same district, but it is the stop between Bumthang and Trashigang. The tourist hotel offers basic facilities with magnificent views and beautiful gardens. Monge is also the first city in the mountains that is on a hillside instead of a valley.
Trashigang (1,150 m) is the largest urban center in the mountains after Thimphu. As the administrative and economic center of the most populated region of Bhutan, Trashigang is known for its work in wood and weaving. Trashigang also has an impressive ancestor, the city bears his name. Built between 1656 and 1659, with views of the Gamri River 400 meters below, its name is appropriately called “Fortress of the Luck Mountain”.
