Take a walk at one of the best observation stations near Kathmandu – Nagarkot, admire the lush hills and admire the breathtaking views of the mountains and the pristine air. Let your fantasy of natural beauty and mountain scenery come true. No other day trip could be such a good combination!

Just 32 km from the Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot is a popular destination with panoramic views of Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishanker Himal, Manaslu Mountains, Mt. Everest, Cho-Oyu, etc. Enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets among the snowy peaks, a popular attraction. Stroll through the lush hills and vibrant villages to explore the rural landscape of Nepal. Meet the locals and have the opportunity to interact with people and know the unique aspects of their culture.

On the way, we will observe the rice fields, forests and meadows. Upon arrival, we admire the beautiful mountains and hills. At evening, we will see the sunset from the observation tower, we finish our day trip to Nagarkot and then we return to Kathmandu.

Day to Day Itinerary

Morning

  • 6:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Kathmandu and drive to Nagarkot (approx. 1.5 hours).
  • 7:30 AM: Arrival in Nagarkot and begin the hike.
    • Start with an introductory walk around Nagarkot to soak in the views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest (on a clear day), Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lakpa.
    • Enjoy a scenic sunrise view (weather permitting) over the mountains.

Mid-Morning

  • 9:00 AM: Start hiking through local villages and terraced farmlands.
    • Engage with the local villagers, experiencing rural life in Nepal firsthand.
    • Stop to observe traditional farming practices and take photos of the scenic landscapes.
  • 11:00 AM: Continue along forest trails, with opportunities to spot a variety of birds and wildlife in their natural habitat.

Afternoon

  • 1:00 PM: Lunch break at a local restaurant with mountain views.
    • Enjoy authentic Nepali cuisine while soaking in the tranquil surroundings.

After Lunch

  • 2:00 PM: Resume the hike, exploring further trails and hidden viewpoints.
    • Discover ancient temples and monasteries along the way.
    • Spend time in peaceful meditation, appreciating the beauty and serenity of the landscape.

Late Afternoon

  • 4:00 PM: Begin the return descent toward the Nagarkot starting point.
  • 5:00 PM: Drive back to Kathmandu, arriving by early evening.

Departure Dates
  • We have daily departures for this trip from March to May and from mid-September to mid-December. You can type in the number of passengers to book a reservation and select a date that is convenient for you. Due to group size, we never cancel a trip once you’ve made a reservation. If you would rather join the group, we will add more travelers on the selected date. You can let us know once you make a reservation or earlier.
