18 Days Mustang Tiji Festival Trekking Overview

Mustang Tiji Festival Trek – stunningly colorful Buddhist monks mask dance

Known as Lomanthang is a remote province of the Himalayas located in the northern part of Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri mountains. It is surrounded by the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is expected to be connected to Nepal in the south. Due to its close and prolonged contact with Tibet, the Tibetan Buddhist lifestyle, religion, art and culture are immediately intact in this shadow of rain. We can see its magnificent abbeys, palaces and fortresses monumental and infinite, as it has a rich and prosperous independent walled kingdom in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Most monasteries belong to the Sakayapa sect, represented by bands of colors in gray, white and red. Luo’s people are highly religious, and prayers and festivals, like Tiji, are an integral part of their lives. This TIJI Mustang Trekking Festival offers all hikers the great opportunity to experience the local Tibetan culture.

Tiji Festival of Lomonthang

Tiji is an annual three-day festival held by Lo Manthang in front of the King’s Palace, one of the most famous and respected festivals in the entire Mustang area. This is the time when the Luo people celebrate and religious pilgrimage. The festival began as a religious ritual to defend against the obstacles and pains that may have come to the area. Later, it also symbolized the hope and strength of Luo’s people, divided into seven provinces, namely, Lo Tso Dhun. The Mustangs firmly believe that the Tiji Festival brings hope and peace and protects them from the forces of evil. It is the mythical foundation of the god Dorje Shunu, also known as Vajrakila, who was born again to subdue all the evil forces and demons that caused hell and pain on Earth. Through the power of the Tiji festival dance and the various forms it took, the gods defeated the demon, bringing peace and prosperity to the kingdom. Therefore, this festival represents the victory of good and evil.

He was one of the best Buddhist masters and one of the sons of King Amgon Sangpo, Lama Lowo Khenchen. During the three-day masked dance Tiji Festival in Luomen Mountain, Mongolia, the selected monks representing Dorge Shunu presented their various forms and showed the ancient paintings of Thangka Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava as a drum and a buzzing atmosphere of Lo Manthang.

In the days of Tiji, the trails of the villages surrounding Lo Manthang were full of scorpion hangings and caravans, and now some people drive jeep and celebrate their most anticipated annual festival. As a result, the Mustang Tiji trekking festival will be a special holiday trip to the Himalayas of Nepal, where hikers from around the world will see a variety of terrains and perform spells in the best way. There is no other place to see.  We regularly organizes this special Tiji trek festival every year. The travel reservation for 2018 is open and places are limited. So hurry up and reserve your location so you can witness this Tiji festival in Lo Monthang in May 2018.
